Japan Gov't tries to cut even foreign postdocs!

Date: Sun, 20 Dec 2009 13:33:55 +0900
Sorry for late reply.
JSPS's prolonged the decision of foreign postdocs by January. This is because the new cabinet of Japan Government tries to cut academic grants and therefore JSPS unable to the number of foreigners postdocs.
See the following website for related issues:

However, I still expect to hear a good news in January.

Japan Gov't cuts Grants for Sciences

Date: Tue, 1 Dec 2009 08:42:04 +0900
Now the government of Japan will cut many scientific budgets and grants to reduce the government budget. All grants of "Global COE" by JSPS including mine during 2007-2011 will reduce by 33% from the next year (cumulative reduction from my proposal is 0.8 x 0.9 x 0.66). I must ... keep to earn 8 postdocs. "Fortunately" postdocs earned by my COE have frequently gotten better jobs. Many Japanese Novel Prize winners, scientists and young postdocs are much disappointed, and will probably be interested in getting grant and scholarship from abroad.
